5 - 7:15

Not much has been happening!  As you may have noticed if you've checked this blog at all recently.

But there were new developments today from about 5 - 7:15.  Jenn, our adoption specialist came over for our last home visit and inspection.  We filled out paperwork to let CPS and the central adoption registry worker know what type of child we as parents can handle.  For example, can we handle a child who might wet the bed?  How about one that bites?  There was a long checklist of behaviors and physical characteristics we said "yes, no or maybe" to show what we are willing to take on.

Jenn also had highlighted some areas of the home study (remember that is the essay that talks all about Josh & I that is turned into the court) where she still needed some extra information. She asked various questions about Josh, me and how we would discipline.  Unfortunately, I once again had to explain that of course Josh is just teasing when he describes the duct taping to walls.

I was excited to learn that although Jenn doesn't need to turn in our home study until November 21, she actually plans to turn it in tomorrow!!  That's October 22nd!!  Once again, I'm starting to get very excited.  Over the past two months, since we have not been attending classes, I have not had my weekly reminder and excitement generator on this journey.  I haven't been sad, worried or depressed, just not the "over the moon" feeling I get when it seems we are one step closer to increasing our family.  Jenn told us a number of other exciting things.  Right now the central adoption agency has a small number of families.  Normally there are about 300+ families in the system; right now it's under 100. That's good for families wanting to adopt.  She said "it's a good time to adopt!"  Also, she seemed excited to learn that I plan to be a stay at home mom.  I guess CPS sees that as a plus.  So do I. :)

Our home was also inspected to make sure I am dusting and vacuuming on a regular basis.  She even checked to make sure there were no rings in the toilets.  Just teasing! Really she looked to make sure we had smoke detectors, fire extinguishers and our toxins are placed in a locked condition.  It was a pretty easy inspection.

We gave Jenn our Family Photo book, an $800 home study check and signed our Final Inspection report.

We are done!  And one step closer to bringing home our forever child.

Back to waiting.
