Putting Out Fires

These may look like ordinary fire extinguishers.

However, they are the type of fire extinguishers that must be installed in your home (each level) if you'd like to adopt through the state of Arizona.

(They really are normal fire extinguishers purchased at Lowe's - for the really curious.)

And so, Josh installed these last weekend - one in our pantry and one in a closet upstairs.

Yes, this is what our adoption process is coming to.  No new posts for about a month, installing fire extinguishers and waiting...

I have had a number of questions about "when are you going to get your baby?"

Over the next few months, this is what will be going on:
1. Our adoption specialist, Jenn will be coming over about mid-October to do our last home visit.  While there she will ask any questions she needs to complete our Home Study & check to make sure we have fire extinguishers, smoke detectors & the paints/poisons are locked away.

The Home Study is the formal document that describes the Olmsted Family, our past, present & personalities.

2. Jenn has until November 21st to turn our Home Study into the courts.

3. The court will read our Home Study & then certify us.  This commonly takes around 6 weeks.

SO...depending on when Jenn gets the Home Study into the courts we are looking at the end of the year, beginning of next year before we are CERTIFIED!

4. Once we are certified we are placed on the Adoption Registry.

Then, the waiting begins once again.  We wait for the phone call.  We wait for our forever child.

News tidbit: November 23rd is National Adoption Day.
In Maricopa County (where I am) court volunteers work overtime to have the most adoptions done that day out of the entire country.  I do believe I'm living in an adopt-friendly state.
